Residential FAQ’s

Q: What is Home Automation?

A: Home automation is an up and coming trend that the public looks for in residential houses, apartments, and commercial  businesses. Home automation
should protect the consumer, entertain, keep them comfortable, and accommodate every lifestyle.  Although many techniques used in building automation
(such as light and climate control, control of doors and window shutters,  security and surveillance systems, etc.) are also used in home automation, additional
functions in home automation can include the  control of multi-media home entertainment systems, automatic plant watering and pet feeding, automatic scenes
for dinners and  parties, and a more user-friendly control interface.

Q: What is Tru Automation?

A: With Tru Automation rooms can sense not only the presence of a person but know who that person is and set appropriate  lighting, temperature and
music/TV taking into account that persons likes. Tru Automation takes home automation to the next level  with the ability to sense when two or more people
enter the residence and activate comprimised settings so the agreed upon  volume and such are set to everyones liking.

Q: Can a Symphony System work with pre-existting Automation?

A: Yes and No and Maybe. If we are asked to work with pre-existing components of automation such as Lutron Radio RA, or  Automatic Window Treatments,
and some HVAC systems, YES. Unfortunately working with such systems as Crestron, AMX, and or  Control 4 it is best to expand your already existing Home
Automation system and stick with them. If you would like to incorporate a  Symphony System that can work as a stand alone touch control without interfearing
with your existing system, choose Symphony  Lite.

Q: Can a Symphony System be installed in an older house?

A: Utouch Systems utilizes RF, IR, and WIFI technology to distribute the majority of Symphony's command signals. This means that  in most cases, we don't
have to open up your walls to run new wires.

Q: My house is empty. Can I purchase all my AV equipment through you?
A: uTouch can supply you with the necessary equipment for your Symphony rack system, RF wireless lighting control, touchscreens, and or other sources and
wiring needed for a complete solution to have a WOW whole house entertainment system.

Q: Other companies charge for an onsite visit. What are your charges?
A: Absolutely nothing. We'll come out to your home for an initial walkthrough to see if a uTouch System is right for you at no charge.

Q: How long will it take to have my system installed?
A: Depending on the system, we can usually have your system designed, programmed and installed and ready to go within 4-weeks.

Q: What is structured wiring and is this something that you can do?
A: Structured wiring refers to low voltage wiring that carries audio (speakers), video, networking, and telephone lines throughout  every room in your home prior
to having the walls closed during a new home build. The wiring is typically brought to a central  location or hub where connections are made to your AV,
satellite/cable, and phone systems. It is recommended that you involve us  during this phase as we can let you know what cabling needs to be run for a
Symphony system. If your electrician is unsure about  what to run, uTouch Systems has an experienced crew to help with this process. Q: Can you build a
home theater? A: We start from the bottom up. We offer a complete turn key service from the in-floor lighting and the wall sconces to the Berkline  leather
seating. Complete Home Theater builds start with our Design Engineer walk through. Contact us for a Free Consultation.
